When it comes to financing heavy equipment, experience is essential. The leader of the HEFA team, Mark Whitla (Director), has focussed on the earthmoving and construction industries for over a decade.
After completing a degree at the University of Melbourne Mark spent two years with a vehicle and equipment finance broking firm. He then spent the next six years in credit and relationship management positions with two major finance institutions in business banking and equipment finance, while earning himself a post-graduate diploma in Applied Finance and Investment.
Unlike many other equipment financiers, Mark has clearly experienced a bank's perspective, and consequently he carefully tailors clients' applications, so that they have the best chance of gaining approval with an appropriate lender on the best possible terms. He joined Melbourne Finance in June 2000, before launching the HEFA entity in February, 2005.
Mark is an active member of various industry bodies, including the Civil Contractors Federation (CCF), The Institute of Quarrying (IQA), the Crane Industry Council of Australia, the Demolition Contractors Association of Victoria (DCAV) and the Construction Material Processors Association (CMPA) having previously served as secretary on the associates' committee. HEFA's Principal, Mark Whitla, is an Associate Member of the Australian Asset Finance Association (AAFA) which governs the major professional leasing/finance brokers in Australia.
